Today's Entry: Leap of Faith

Brenda has been telling me for months now that Isaiah has a stubborn streak and a determination to do what he wants to do no matter the obstacles. I usually see him at the end of the day when he's winding down and ready for bed. So, it was a stretch for me to picture him the way she described him.

Tonight Nathan and he were playing "jump off" from the leather chair upstairs. At first Nathan was helping him climb up since his little short legs don't quite reach. But then he got that peculiar set to his jaw and would have none of our help. He kept walking around the foot rest looking for a handhold, trying over and over again to pull himself up. He never got frustrated, but kept trying till he succeeded. He stood up when he reached the top and gave a triumphant grin. He would then run and jump into Nathan's arms and the cycle would start all over again.

Determination and stubborness are two sides of the same coin. Just goes to show the will to overcome is strong, especially so in a 16 month old (tomorrow)! Wonder what the terrible two's will be like?
