A ONE MONTH JOURNAL Sept-2004

And now, the journal dedicated to the child singlehandedly responsible for the world's diaper toxicity crisis: Mr. "Where else would you like me to put it?" -Isaiah

Today's Entry: Cabin fever

2005-01-30 - 9:56 p.m.

With the hectic pace of these past weeks, Brenda and I decided we needed to get out of the house and have a family weekend together. We got in the car yesterday morning and drove north on the 57 with no real goal in mind.

Just before Effingham we turned west and, after driving for a while, we stopped off to look at the frozen shores of Lake Carlyle. The icicles and crusted ice on the rocks and root systems were absolutely stunning. Isaiah kept making a determined effort to reach the shoreline, but Brenda was two steps ahead of him. She quickly grasped the hood of his jacket and held on. She has the speed and reflexes of a mother quite used to anticipating potential 16-month-old disasters.

We went to the Science museum in SL to see the IMAX presentation of "Pulse", a film put on by Stomp, an urban rhythm group known for using whatever materials are at hand to make their high energy music. Isaiah lay with his back on my chest looking up at the screen and didn't budge for the entire 45 minute show. It was beautiful. I couldn't help but pound on the walls and on the railing of the theater on the way out, it was that inspirational.

Isaiah was due for his second haircut tonight. His head of hair has just gotten to be too unruly to keep under control. His hair is so fine that as soon as it dries, it points out in all possible directions. Brenda's cut should bring it under better control. We'll see!
