Today's Entry: Seuss' menus

Ever since Isaiah's arrival, Elijah has had to struggle with giving up his place as the baby in the family. It's been a little tough on him at times, but he has managed to take it all with humor and resignation. It was a pleasant surprise last evening, while Brenda and I were doing the dishes, to hear Elijah's voice coming over the intercom, apparently reading to Isaiah in his room. I walked in on them both, and they were so engrossed in the books, that they paid little attention to me and my camera. The same thing happened again tonight, once again with the same apparent disinterest and disregard of their father's intrusive photojournalism. The book Isaiah loves the most and often asks for with his slow and careful enunciation is Dr. Seuss's famously discolored "Ekks... and...'am".

Last night (in Isaiah's room - in the beloved blue recliner that has rocked four of our babies to sleep)

Tonight (in Elijah's room, with a floor so cluttered by today's toys, that physicists around the world have asked to use it as proof of the ever-increasing cosmic entropy)
