Today's Entry: Related amongst one another

David and Becky's oldest daughter Katie is back from Bolivia with her husband Richard for the next several weeks as they await the delivery of little Wendell. Katie is 36 weeks pregnant and it's obvious the novelty has long worn off. Richard is the director of a mission television network called ADVenir--which, in Spanish, means 'He will come'. Their 1 1/2 year old daughter Cindy is Isaiah's cousin--well, first cousin once removed to be exact--and the fireworks between those two are a sight to see. There are times, however, when both are in remarkably cooperative spirits. The hugging and smooches on the cheek that go on are almost sincere.

Does that look like a convincing picture of family tranquility? It t'aint.

Here, Dad and I comiserate on how the role of fatherhood has such an impact on the longevity of a man's hair follicles.

This morning, Isaiah noticed a dozen or so bluejays in the oak tree behind the house. Even if it weren't for the binoculars, this boy has an eye for birds that sees details my eyes miss. There is a beaver that has set up his home in our back pond. I keep grumbling that he'll soon start cutting down the little trees that circle the water's edge. If that happens, he's out of here.

Here is Isaiah Friday morning in our bed. He came to our bed at 4 am, standing stark naked in the middle of the room. 'Diaper wet' was his only comment by way of explanation. I got a dry one on him and tucked him in beside Brenda and me. When I got up to go to work, this is the picture that met me. Too sweet. --Doug
