A ONE MONTH JOURNAL Sept-2004  And now, the journal dedicated to the child singlehandedly responsible for the world's diaper toxicity crisis: Mr. "Where else would you like me to put it?" -Isaiah Today's Entry: Today is Pi day2005-03-14 - 11:51 a.m. Today is our family's "Pie Day." It's a tradition that goes way back...to last year at least. Last March we were studying one of the kid's math courses that dealt with basic geometry and geometric formulas. Kelsey was fascinated by the geometric constant of Pi (3.14) and all its applications in the natural world. So we decided to celebrate 3-14 by having round things for dinner. Naturally, we had pizza, but we added potpies to the entree, then had strawberry pie for desert. It was a unique experience.One more week to go before the big debate. My desk is jammed with material covering the not only specifically the partial birth abortion procedure and associated issues, but also the whole abortion debate in general. It is an extraordinarily complex and divisive issue. There appears to be no simple answer that satisfies both sides. My debate opponent will be Ms. Kathy Spiegel from Planned Parenthood. I don't know much about her, but I know the position Planned Parenthood has taken in this issue and the concerns they have with the Federal ban as it is written. The debate is sponsored by our local ACLU chapter, but it will be open to the public. Several physicians and nursing staff have expressed a strong interest in being there. It promises to be an stimulating discussion. If those of you who are interested wish to come, the venue will be the Lesar Hall auditorium at the School of Law on Tuesday evening at 7pm. Be there or be square.
